Why choose to study with us?

Our immersive 8-month teacher training spread across 12 weekends honors the tradition and history of Yoga with a scientifically informed and functional approach to the asana practice for a modern practitioner of Yoga.

We don’t just teach the creative Flow, but center our training around the established and versatile Vinyasa Flow Method of sequencing. This logical method gives you principles and rules of creating Yoga classes for different themes and levels of experience, yet leaves space for creativity and authenticity to help you stand out and deliver engaging offerings.

Hybrid training

Spread across 8 months, this training works with your life rather than requiring you to adjust your entire world to accommodate it.

Some lectures are online, while the majority of the training is in person. Limiting the group size to 15 students, we offer unparalleled, direct and individual attention to you as a student.

Practical & versatile

With plenty of hours in teaching practicums, in pairs, and in front of the group, we’ll overcome any fears so that you walk out of this training with confidence, ready to teach.

You will learn an organic and logical method to sequence versatile, creative, and meaningful themed Vinyasa Yoga classes for beginners, intermediate, and advanced levels, as well as Restorative Yoga.

Expertise

Through our Yoga Alliance accredited trainings, in the past 15 years, we have certified hundreds of Yoga Teachers worldwide.

Our experienced teaching team consists of Senior Yoga Teachers, a Psychologist, a Neuroscientist, and a Physiotherapist.

About our Yoga School

Here at SOMA Yoga we facilitate the 200h teacher training program created by the Spanda Institute - the international Yoga school that certified hundreds of Yoga teachers across the world in the past 15 years. Our founder Gea, who is the lead teacher in this training, went through Spanda trainings herself, and has been leading their teacher training across Europe in the last few years. Now it’s time to bring it home to London!

What do we teach?

Our approach is multidisciplinary - rooted in Tantric and Hatha Yoga teachings, Classical Yoga Philosophy and Ayurveda, and sciences such as Anatomy & Physiology, Biomechanics, Neuroscience and Psychology. Regarding the History and Tradition of Yoga, we teach in a non-dogmatic, research-informed way.

The art of healing

Our teachings are based on Nature's cycles, supporting the gentle unfolding of our body/mind. For us, Yoga is an art of healing and flowing with the creative pulse of everything (Spanda). We believe that Yoga is for everybody, but not the same Yoga is for everybody, so we have developed different sequences to serve the needs of each individual. Once our students leave the 200-hour training, they can teach themed sequences adjusted to the group (beginners, intermediate, advanced) and the day/month/seasonal cycle.

Small groups, strong attention to individuals

All of our Teacher Trainers are trained in a Trauma Sensitive Yoga approach to teaching, and our in-person Teacher Training groups are small, giving a lot of individual intention. This training has a maximum of 15 students, and every student will get plenty of individual feedback on their teachings!

We give back.

We teach Vinyasa Yoga. Are you registered with Yoga Alliance?

Yes, our Yoga school has been registered with the Yoga Alliance for the last 15 years and our certificate is recognized internationally. Upon completion of your training, you will get a Yoga Alliance certificate, and if you wish, you can apply to be in the Yoga Alliance register of teachers.

What are the prerequisites to apply?

Aligned with Yoga Alliance standards, we require a minimum of one year of continuous and dedicated yoga practice which your teacher or teachers can vouch for (via the letter of recommendation), and a dedication to study and practice. If you cannot provide a letter of recommendation, let us know and we will schedule an interview.

Do you have an attendance policy?

To complete this teacher training, you need to attend all the course hours, do all the written assignments, and pass the written and teaching exams - and we will make sure that you do so.

If you miss a lecture, day, or weekend, you can make up for it by booking a private lesson with a lead teacher. In this way, you can make up for a maximum of 2 days.

Can I join if I don’t plan to teach Yoga?
