Yoga Therapy

Yoga therapy is a complementary and alternative form of therapy that uses yoga practices and principles to promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

It is an integrative approach that combines the ancient tradition of yoga with modern medical and therapeutic techniques to address various health issues and improve overall quality of life.

Tailored for your health conditions

Unlike traditional yoga classes, where the focus might be on physical postures (asanas) and breathing exercises (pranayama) for general fitness and relaxation, yoga therapy is more personalized and tailored to the individual's specific needs and health conditions. It involves a detailed assessment of the person's physical and mental health, lifestyle, and goals, after which a customized yoga practice is designed to suit their unique requirements.

Integrative approach

Yoga therapy sessions may include a combination of physical postures, breathing exercises, meditation, relaxation techniques, and lifestyle recommendations. These practices are chosen based on the person's condition and are aimed at promoting self-awareness, reducing stress, enhancing flexibility and strength, managing pain, improving sleep, managing chronic conditions, and supporting emotional balance.

A complement to your medical treatment

It is essential to note that yoga therapy is not a substitute for medical treatment, but rather a complementary approach that can be used alongside conventional medical care. Belen is a Yoga Therapy trainee from the International Association of Yoga Therapists who has a deep understanding of yoga philosophy, anatomy, physiology, psychology, and various health conditions. She works in collaboration with healthcare providers to complement conventional medical treatments and therapies.

Therapy plan

Each session lasts 70 minutes and can be done face-to-face in SOMA Yoga Studio (SW18). The meetings can be weekly - to obtain better results it is recommended to do it weekly for a certain period of time, although the possibility of doing it sporadically is also offered based on the needs that each individual presents.

During the first session, Belen will do an intake, a detailed physical and breathing assessment. After this, she will prepare a plan to work with you.
